About Us

The Republic of Cyprus is an economically developed country as demonstrated by GDP per inhabitant, which amounts to 89.9%, with EU base being 93.1%. This fact and the fact that the Republic of Cyprus can serve as a link between EU and the Middle East due to its geographic position, business environment, well-functioning banking sector, good-quality commercial services and legal system were the impulses for the founding of the Czech-Cypriote Chamber of Commerce following up the already established Association of Cyprus Businessmen interested in the Czech Republic.

During the visit of the Czech Parliament delegation headed by the Chairman of Czech House of Deputies Mr. Miloslav Vlček, on 2 – 4 November 2008, entrepreneurs from both countries met and the Czech party adopted the recommendation to establish an entity that would arch over all Czech activities towards the Cyprus party. Due to this impulse, the Czech-Cypriote Chamber of Commerce presided by Mr. Jiří Šebek was founded.

After its official founding (upon approval by the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade and registration by the Companies Registry in Prague), the first step to be taken by the newly founded entity was to sign an agreement of mutual cooperation, understanding and business activities. The agreement was achieved through a joint Memorandum, which was signed on 27 May 2009 in the Czech House of Deputies in presence of their Chairman Mr. Miloslav Vlček and Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the Czech Republic Mr. Achilleas Antoniades.
